Nov. 30th, 2011

It seems to me that with all the crisp air, people seem to be getting a touch more cranky. Winter seems to make most of the school much more short tempered. Although I do wonder if that is just because we are losing sunlight. I am tired, however, of first years running into me and being rude. I swear there are no manners in that year at all!

I'm still fuming over the loss of Hogsmeade Weekend. I'd have enjoyed a few hours away from this castle. It's getting a bit cramped feeling. I do hope to get outside for a few nice hours, though, at least. Fresh air, a bit of flying that's not practice related, and some wonderful company, I think, would be best.

We need another night of ignoring reality, don't you think?

We should do something sometime soon.
I think I'm going to die of boredom.
Who's up for skipping homework?
Yes. I said that.

Also I may need to brainstorm and figure out what to do with my life after graduation. It's really not that far away!

I heard of Uncle's promotion! How wonderful!
How are you doing, cousins mine?

Interesting fact commonly misconstrued phrase: "The term rule of thumb comes from the old English law that men couldn't beat their wives with anything wider than their thumb."

How interesting. You could beat your wife with anything smaller than the width of your thumb. Men please take note - you try this with me and I'll return the favor. Heedless it's interesting to know that such laws once existed. I wonder who came up with it? That'd be interesting to know, actually. based on an ancient common law, however it was still incorrect. That law stated a husband could do "moderate correction" which stated a husband could confine a wife to the house. I'll have to do more digging into this and see when this was first misconstrued.

Fun Fact: "Bats always turn left when exiting a cave."

I want to know who bothered watching every bat and looked to see which way they flew. Why would you even DO that?

In other news, I am fascinated by the chatter on these journals. People are such a fascinating group to watch. I can't decide if everyone wants to stick together, stick their heads in the sand, or what. I don't see the point of panicking, picking sides, or jumping ship until we have all the facts. I suppose that is the analytically me thinking, though.

{Fact of the Day: Strange Facts: When you are looking at someone you love, your pupils dilate, they do the same when you are looking at someone you hate.}

How.. Interesting.

What a way to wake up this morning. Death, doom and changes - who knew that would be on the plate? However I think people need to play this smartly and not panic. Panicking over hearsay and tid bits of news never has done anyone good. Who are we to know exactly what went on? We weren't there. I am sorry for the losses of life - they are never easy to swallow. I am sorry to hear of the various deaths that have occurred. good riddance

I have heard from my family. They are all doing well. That is a nice bit of news for the morning. Everyone is safe and sound and keeping their heads down. Stirring up trouble will get us no where.

Fun Fact: Technically, your brain has the capacity to store everything you experience, see, read or hear. However, the real issue is recall, whether you can access that information.

The human brain is utterly fascinating. In other news you may have missed seeing me at the Ball. I assure you, my dear friends, I was there. I was merely hiding in a corner. After all it is no good to be seen at such a function without a date, or even a good costume. I was feeling rather uninspired this year - how sad is that? Me uninspired? I know it's a tragedy. Hopefully I can think of something to wear to the Yule ball in time. It's over a month away, I know, but I feel I may need that much time this year.

Thankfully this uninspired feeling does not extend to classwork and I've excelled in my homework thus far. I've also been enjoying practice, even if I'm not on the team this year. It's alright - I can focus on classes anyways.
